Lincoln Patriot Spring Blowout Basketball Tournament

The Lincoln Patriot Boys basketballs Boosters are hosting their annual Spring Blowout Basketball Tournament on Saturday March 14^th and Sunday March 15th. The tourney is for boys and girls in grades 4-8. The tournament is limited to eight teams per division. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games. T-Shirts awarded to 1^st place teams (maximum 10). Deadline for registration is March 7^{th, 2010}. Registration cost is $130 per team up to 10 players.

Tournament Details:

The tournament officials and supervisors are all volunteers who believe in providing opportunity for youth to develop their basketball skills. This is a fund-raiser for LHS boys basketball. Please keep in mind that unsportsmanlike behavior by coaches, players, and fans will not be tolerated. The rules of the tournament are included with this packet.

Lincoln High Spring Blowout Tournament Rules

Welcome to the Lincoln High Spring Blowout Tournament. We hope you have a great tournament. Thank you for participating in our fundraiser for the Lincoln High boys’ basketball program.

1. Two 12 minute halves grades 4^th –6^th.
Two 14 minute halves grades 7^th-8^th
The clock stops on all whistles only. No running clock unless 2^nd half
and a 15 point lead.

2. NO PRESSING IN 4^TH GRADE DIVISIONS………. No full court press after a (15) point lead.

3. Four time-outs per game. 2 Full timeouts 2 Thirty Second Timeouts. One additional time-out in each overtime period.

4. Overtime period shall be two minutes. If a second overtime period is required, then winner will be determined by sudden death. The clock will stop during the overtime. Every overtime begins with a jump ball.

5. Technical, intentional and/or flagrant fouls will result in two (2) points and possession of the ball.

6. If a player or coach is assessed two technical fouls, he/she will be ejected from the game and gym.

7. All players must have numbered jerseys.

8. One game ball must be provided by each team. Out-of-state teams please note that the official sized ball used in South Dakota by

boys and girls 4th through 8^th grade is a 28.5 inch circumference (small ball compared to standard). The full size ball may be used if both coaches agree prior to each game. No warm-up balls are provided.

9. All referee decisions are final. Coaches may talk with referees during time-outs and at half time.

10. If the tournament is cancelled for any reason, the tournament committee will retain $50.00 of the original fee. Once the tournament begins and you have played a game, the full registration fee will be retained.

11. All other South Dakota High School Activities Association rules apply.

Tie Breaker Rules

These rules will apply to all pool play and round robin divisions.

1. Win Loss record

2. Head to head competition

3. Point differential up to a maximum of 25 points

4. Least points allowed

5. Total points scored up to a maximum of 50 points per game.

6. Coin flip

7. In the event of a forfeit by any team, the tournament

committee will determine the tie breaker status.
